What is a Jovialities Murder Mystery?

Owned by J.R.Simons, a Jovialities Murder Mystery is a truly unique form of live interactive entertainment. We use improvisational
acting to mingle with your guests, talking, arguing, and entertaining them on a "one-to-one" basis. The audience does not sit in one spot where they watch a play alienated from the performers. With Jovialities, the audience is a part of the play, interacting with the characters and investigating their motives and alibis. While other companies talk to their audiences, we talk with our audiences. Your home or hall is the stage, where we drop the clues and create an air of mystery. The plots are customizable and can be tailored to your specific event. Each mystery is truly unique. |

The mystery lasts around 2 hours. We will get there earlier to go over any details and set any props. The actors will re-arrive later with the guests, or plant themselves around the house or hall, as in the case of butlers, maids or other employees. We work in a consistent, chronological order, with evenly spaced time cues that unravel the plot in an easy to follow manner. Your guests will witness arguments, some of which become physical as the actors display their animosity toward each other. Guests will get to know the characters, learning about their pasts, relationships with other characters, and most importantly, their motives for murder.

Near the end of the evening, a body will be discovered, having been shot, stabbed, hanged, clubbed, or poisoned. We provide guessing forms and pencils, and your guests will have to guess who they think the murderer is, the time of the crime, the weapon used, and the murderer's motive. The guest that is the closest in those four categories is determined the winner. All of our clients supply a prize of some sort, to make the evening competitive.

We can even customize our scripts to your desired specifications, and dress the part of any theme you may want.
